San Soldier Field Siro?

Buried in Ridge Mahoney's latest update on the Beckham saga is this nugget:

On the discussion table will not only be the fate of David Beckham, but the prospect of Milan playing perhaps two games in America as part of a settlement agreement.

One of them might be the MLS All-Star Game in Salt Lake City July 29, the other is a possible Milanese derby in Chicago a few days prior.

Personally, I think AC Milan's unwillingness to make a better offer pretty much guarantees Becks will be back in L.A., at which point there will be much wringing of hands and then some carefully manufactured quotes and everything will be alright. This notion of not wanting a disgruntled player is bullshit. Beckham is a professional, and he'll respect his employer -- or at least his contract -- enough to perform on the field when called upon.

However, if letting him go means we get Inter Milan and AC Milan playing a game in Chicago, then it's arrivederci. For me, anyway.
