Game Of The Season Of The Day

Nick Green over at 100 Percent Soccer is on the Houston vs. Chivas USA for the Western Conference crown as "game of the season" bandwagon. To be fair, he does say "so far," which would keep open the likelihood that the potential Beckham v. Blanco matchup for a playoff spot the very next day would be much, much bigger.

Someone -- I don't remember exactly who -- looked at these four teams fighting for two playoff spots and drew the same conclusion I draw every year. This is your promotion/relegation battle in the United States. The next step would be to accept that and see if there are any additional incentives you could add to merely making the playoffs, as I'm still not convinced that the incremental team revenue from hosting one or two playoff games is enough reward unless you actually win MLS Cup.
