Teo Macero helmed a ton of landmark jazz records, including most of Miles Davis' output from his late sixties quintet into his serious fusion period. It seems like every other tune on the boxed set of the late sixties band has Miles croaking something to Teo into the microphone at the end of a take.
I almost wish this had happened a few weeks sooner, so that Herbie Hancock, who played in that quintet along with Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter and the late Tony Williams, could have acknowledged his accomplishments when he accepted his Grammy.
