According to the Chicago Sun-Times, drummer Jimmy Chamberlain may be rejoining the Smashing Pumpkins. Chamberlain was kicked out of the band in 1995 after his drug problem led to the death of touring keyboardist Jonathan Melvoin.
Former Quiet Riot singer Kevin DuBrow was recently in the news, arrested for delinquency in paying a fan who sued him five years ago. DuBrow's defense? Poverty. After being an MTV mainstay in the eighties, it seems that Kevin hasn't received a royalty check since 1987, lives with his mother, and can't afford a car. I'm not sure whether to snicker or feel sorry for the guy.
Marcus Roberts had better take care of himself. The jazz world lost another pianist on January 6th, when French-born Michel Petrucciani died in a New York hospital while being treated for a lung infection. Petrucciani stood out, so to speak, as a great jazz player despite being only 3 feet tall as a result of a condition known as "glass bone disease."
