There will be lots of metaphors out there, but at the end of the day, Hillary was fouling Obama, knowing that he was a solid free throw shooter, and that she couldn't catch him if he made those free throws. But she still had to try as long as there was time on the clock.
Personally, I think there's something ennobling about this contest going all the way to the end, although some of that might just be a reaction to the way the media try to call it at every juncture.
