I was going to comment on Bush's almost-comical-if-it-wasn't-going-to-start-World War III misreading of other world leaders, but Steve Benen is one of probably many people who have done it first and done it better.
I will say this, though. If Democratic rivals try to take down Barack Obama over his pledges to actually engage Iran diplomatically, I think it would be a pretty devastating response to say something like "well, I'm not talking about looking into his eyes and seeing his soul or anything," as that would strike a blow against Bush and against whoever made the accusation.
