Being Contrarian

If the late John E. Swearingen truly was "one of the nation's best-known businessman," as the Chicago Tribune reports, why have I never, ever heard of him? Is it because my brain can only hold one Swearingen at a time, and that quota was filled early for this particular band geek by James Swearingen, noted composer of high-school band literature?
