I'm not quite sure what to make of this, because I've become so used to Daily Kos diarists spitting out "centrist" like an epithet the way the right does with "liberal." I don't know if this, taken at face value, is the left actually moving to embrace the middle or the middle moving to the left. In the world of the horse race, the former would seem to help John Edwards and the latter Barack Obama, I think, but that's a gut reaction that hasn't had the benefit of much rumination.
