NP: New Radicals, Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too
Several electronic devices seemed to be trying to tell me something yesterday. My TiVo revolted on me when I tried recording a PBS program for my little sister, and ultimately rebooted itself. Then I spent a good two hours trying to figure out why my phone wouldn't talk to my computer before realizing that it, to, needed a reboot.
Putting aside for a moment that I'm not thrilled that my crappy, soon-to-be-discontinued phone occasionally needs to be rebooted in order to work, if I wasn't unconsciously following the same logic this weekend, I was pretty close. After playing six gigs in eight nights, I got hit with the Peter Wilt firing, and I've been exhausting myself physically, mentally and emotionally for three weeks straight now.
After taking Mary to the airport on Sunday, I just sorta didn't do anything. A little laundry. And some really silly television -- I had Tivo'd Alien Apocalypse on SciFi a couple weeks back, because if anyone can sell a scifi B-movie, it's Bruce Campbell. Overall, if you take out the stress of the gadget failure, I feel quite a bit better today, although I'm probably going to skip l.i.t.c. this week to lighten the load a little bit more.
Then it's right back into the grind. We're meeting with the new Fire guy tomorrow, and then I'm rehearsing with Abi for the first time in months on Wednesday. Sevendust on Thursday. And I should be back to the gym routine this week as well. If it sometimes doesn't sound fun to be me, at least it's not dull.
