NP: Deftones, Deftones
Wired had a couple of articles yesterday on polling and the uncertainty surrounding it, including the whole cell-phones issue and it's effect on representativeness. I'm not sure they really concluded anything, other than (a) there might be an effect, (b) nobody knows what it is, and (c) the firms conducting the surveys like to think they're on top of it.
On top of everything else, though, I think they just might still be missing something important. Every poll I've seen considers either a Kerry-Bush race, or a Kerry-Bush-Nader race. Given that not all conservatives are terribly happy with Bush's record of bigger government and irresponsible fiscal policy, and that Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik is, I think, on every ballot in every state -- which Nader isn't -- shouldn't some of these polls be considering a four-man race? Doesn't it follow that, if you're nominally GOP but disappointed with Bush, there might be an alternative to (a) voting for Kerry, (b) voting for Nader, or (c) not voting?
Just asking.
