Don Garber Believes In Global Warning

Ostensibly riffing on the U.S. lackluster performance this week in South African, FIFA President Sepp Blatter is going on again about how MLS needs to conform to the "international" schedule in order for the American league to be competitive. Nick Green has quotes from MLS Commissioner Don Garber in response, including this one:

"We regularly evaluate all aspects of our competition, including the timing and format of our season," Garber said in a statement. "Because of the extreme winter weather in many of our markets in the U.S. and Canada, a switch to the international calendar would pose many challenges for MLS and its fans. I am convinced that the time will come when we do adapt to the international calendar. I just don't believe that time is in the foreseeable future."

I can only assume that he means the time will come when it's not routinely below freezing in cities like Chicago, Seattle and Toronto in November and February.
