Two disappointments stood out for me after the last weekend in MLS action.
First, DC United fans. Knowing how active they are online, I'm very surprised they weren't able to get a call or an e-mail onto Fox Soccer Channel's post-game wrap-up to complain about the painfully Galaxy-centric broadcast on Saturday night. Since I'm still trying to wean myself from BigSoccer, I can only assume they're complaining about it over there. Still, the diss of Nate Jaqua from what sounded like a 13-year old girl was kind of funny.
As an aside, both the broadcast and the post-game articles almost went out of their way to talk about all the non-scoring things Jaqua did well in the match. I can't say this for sure, but I don't think his all-around game got as much attention or praise in Chicago from anyone other than Dave Sarachan, but that may be part of the tendency of the national soccer apparatus -- and I include the league's own website here -- to completely ignore us here in the Windy City.
Anyway, the second disappointment is Ives Galarcep. He's been blogging up and down about how bogus Clint Mathis' red card was, and on the one hand, he's entitled to that opinion. But as a journalist, I think it's a little dubious to completely ignore Red Bulls coach Bruce Arena's quote where he said he thought it was the right call.
