FRANKFURT AIRPORT (12:40pm local time) -- I don't know if it's that I've begun the last segment of the journey, if I'm realizing just how long I've been away from the people I care about, or maybe a trigger from looking at pictures of the Fire's grand opening match, but I'm feeling Chicago's gravitational pull pretty strongly right now.
The fact that I'm actually at the airport, waiting for a shuttle to my hotel certainly doesn't help.
I had - and perhaps still have - a notion of hopping a train to Kaiserslautern and watching Australia and Italy at the "Fan Mile" there to party with the Aussies, but Frankfurt and its own Fan Fest might have similar appeal, albeit with significantly less Aussies. I also have a list of good restaurants from my host in Berlin that I hope to put a dent into.
