Trecker's Scoop of Dirt

Now that he's latched on to it, I don't think Jamie Trecker is going to let his Bridgeview financing story go. He's managed to make reference to it three times (here, here and here) in his last five articles on FOXSports.com, although the second of those mentions was a clarification that he'd gotten the story wrong the first time, and I detect a whiff of a journalist trying to score his big scoop with a story that's being almost completely ignored in the market where it's happening.

Putting aside obvious punny metaphors about where there's smoke, there's fire, I don't think there's the big scoop here that Trecker is almost palpably hoping for. It's likely that it's being largely ignored here in Chicago because there's no story. Of course, it could be that the southwest side is so close to a foreign country that the papers and the networks just don't know that they should be looking, but on the other hand, this town is hardly a stranger to corruption in said southwest 'burbs. Just ask Betty Loren-Maltese.
