EZ come, EZ go

Ezra Hendrickson is back in MLS after a brief stint in the A-League. DC United have to give up a 5th round draft pick to Dallas in return, no word if they have to find a way to get MetroStars coach Bob Bradley to make the pick. I'm not sure what the last pick in the draft contending for rookie of the year means just yet. Let me think about it. [USSoccerUK]

No sooner did the New York Times quote some Italian calling Euro 2004 "a most beautiful, peaceful allegory for the wars that, thanks be to God, no longer exist in Europe" than both former axis powers on the continent get sent home after group play. Does this mean France surrenders in the semis? [New York Times]

The timing of Jim Smith's retirement from the GM post in Columbus makes me wonder when he started looking. Maybe he heard footsteps after the team stumbled out of the gate, and was far enough along in the process once the results got better. Maybe he's been looking for a new job all along and that's why the Crew suck so hard. [MLSnet]
