All I can say is wow, wow, wow, and wow again! This is some truly beautiful music. Eight CDs covering seven sets over two nights at Chicago's Plugged Nickel in December of 1965. Herbie Hancock stands out as a soloist on these recordings more than anyone else. Maybe because his lips don't get tired playing piano. Being a big Tony Williams fan, I was surprised to hear him so restrained, but it is much earlier in his career. He hadn't developed into the forceful player that he would later become. And does he swing! I could listen to this forever.
