I suppose I should 'fess up and admit that the Passengers album put me on an "ambient world music" kick, although it was also some music I heard between acts when I went to see Ulele back in December. My friends and I asked the DJ what he was playing at two points in the evening. Once it was Material, and once it was Ozric Tentacles. I've been a fan of Bill Laswell and Axiom Records since I heard Praxis, his project with guitarist Buckethead, and P-Funk alumni Bootsy Collins and Bernie Worrell. This is nothing like Praxis. I have to say I like the Eno stuff better, but this isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. Wayne Shorter is unmistakable on saxophone, and there is some great percussion going on as well. I've been interested in finding more material like this, especially with tabla. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any suggestions.
