Ask The Experts

NP: Peter Gabriel, Peter Gabriel I (Rainy Windshield)

Every time I hear that this or that economic report was better or worse than expectations -- and it seems to be every time I hear about any economic report -- I wonder to myself if maybe the expectations are the problem. As he is wont to do, Nate Silver crunches the numbers and finds that maybe economic prognosticators aren't all they're cracked up to be, and that the numbers they're predicting aren't exactly stable when they're released.

So, we have an economic class that's pretty bad at hitting a moving target, and this forms the basis for how global stock market behaves. I'll be hiding my money in my mattress if anyone needs me.
