NP: Elbow, Leaders Of The Free World
Over at Sullivan's place, Patrick Appel flags something Ezra Klein said that I've been wondering about lately in this whole debt ceiling fight. Namely, could Obama get a deal on the table that explicitly ignores the Bush tax cuts, then simply veto any and all attempts to extend them on their own later on? For all I know, the intransigent-for-the-cameras GOP position includes making those cuts permanent, so they may have their flank covered.
