Shoot High, Aim Low

NP: Tool, 10,000 Days

It's good to see that there's at least some pushback on this notion that not passing a health care bill by August means that the Obama presidency is over. As ever, Nate Silver's argument about how the external factors may actually be better for Obama in the fall is pretty salient, on the heels of the Dow crossing 9,000 yesterday, and holding steady today despite a couple of bad earnings reports.

And part of me thinks this is a clever trick on the part of the White House, because if the GOP is going to trot out the notion that the President got his health care reform, but got it three months later than he wanted it as a victory for their party, they're exactly as sunk as everyone keeps saying they are. This notion that not passing it now means it won't ever pass seems like wishful thinking from people who still don't quite understand their opponent.
