NP: The Ting Tings, We Started Nothing
Both Andrew Sullivan and Josh Marshall ask why the candidates are talking about Afghanistan when Pakistan is the real issue. Kevin Drum looks at Obama's big speech the other day and points out that "when we talk about Afghanistan we're really mostly talking about Pakistan," although Drum seems to be a little underwhelmed as well.
Seeing as the most expedient way of getting any troops anywhere near Pakistan will almost certainly involve deployment in Afghanistan, I don't see it as that big of a deal that we're not explicitly talking about possible military solutions against an alleged ally. That's just diplomacy, isn't it?
