NP: John Cage, 4'33"
I've managed to bike to work every day this week, given the San Diego-ish weather we've been having, and I've been noticing something that I meant to mention last summer. Was there some decision among bicycle riders to change the signal for a right turn? When I was growing up, I was taught that you do all your signaling with your left hand -- straight out for a left turn, pointed upwards for a right. I think nearly every person I've seen signaling a right turn has used their right arm. Is this normal? Accepted? Am I just assuming you use the same signals as you would in car -- where you can't really use your right arm -- and am misremembering the lesson that was actually in driver's ed?
