NP: The Fratellis, Here We Stand
Via Andrew Sullivan, this is exactly the post-game wrap-up I was looking for. During the home stretch of the primary, I tried to find that spreadsheet to see if there was a disconnect between the media narrative and the Obama campaign's slow and steady expectations, but wasn't able to turn it up, so I'm encouraged to see someone pick up the ball.
There were a couple of articles after the final primary last week that talked about just how shrewd the Obama campaign was in figuring out how the delegates were awarded in every single nook and cranny of every single state.
A lot is said about the connectivity of the Internet as one of the transformative aspects of the campaign, but there might be something to be said for the post-Boomer's relationship with information that enabled this sort of deep analysis. That may be an overly facile view of the Obama approach versus Hillary Clinton's dogmatic reliance on the conventional wisdom of old politics, and it may have been out of necessity -- which was the premise of something I read over the weekend -- and not a generational thing, but it still jumps out at me.
It also might be an oblique method of self-aggrandizement, as the idea that Gen X has a better intuitive grasp of complex systems makes me look good by association.
