Chris Matthews vs. The Rest Of The Media

I've been growing concerned lately that the Democratic primary is devolving into exactly the kind of cage match that MSNBC's Chris Matthews has been practically begging for, but Kevin Drum points out -- although not in so many words -- that Matthews' notion of how these things typically play out may be the norm, and that the rest of the media seems to have a really short institutional memory about these matters.
Wow. I think I just defended Chris Matthews. I feel dirty.
