Next Question?

NP: John Cage, 4'33"

The Washington Post opines about Iraq, and specifically, why can't the Democrats admit the surge worked? The conventional answer continues to be the lack of political process, but I'd be interested to see how we currently stack up on the original, what, 16 benchmarks? At the time of the Petraeus report, barely three of them had been met, if I remember correctly.

While some of that may have changed, it seems like a better course to point out how the surge has done specifically with regard to the metrics the White House set down as indicators of success, along with a comment on how badly they missed those goals during that original six month period.
