Those Pesky Robot Defenses

NP: Pandora

The optical drive doesn't seem to be the problem. At least, disabling the drive didn't make a lick of difference. Maybe replacing it will, but I won't get to that until this weekend. And I have to do that regardless, because a non-functioning drive makes it awfully difficult to finally execute my last resort (short of throwing the fucking computer out the fucking window) of reinstalling Windows.

What worries me is that maybe the computer knows that, in which case the conveniently timed death of the CD drive is a sentient act of self-preservation.

So far, no one has arrived from the future to help me defeat this desktop menace, but I suspect a knock on my door any minute now.
