It wasn't germaine to my little narrative there, but if Denny Hastert is forced to resign before the election, doesn't that make it look a lot like the time when another Illinois congressman got in hot water in advance of a midterm election that changed the composition of government? I'm sure some pundit somewhere has brought up Dan Rostenkowski by now, right?
