Maybe They're Being Ironic

NP: David Bowie, Best of Bowie

So I get this weekly newsletter from the Onion, listing out various events here in Chicago. Typically an interesting mix of stuff, but this caught my eye:

Fans of surreal rock and psychedelic jazz should be pumped for The Mars Volta's second full-length, Frances The Mute, due out March 1. With the release of De-Loused In The Comatorium, the quartet landed at the top of critics' best of 2003 lists. Expect the band's ambitious follow-up to produce similar giddiness.

To celebrate the release of Frances The Mute, AliveOne is having an advance CD listening party on March 2.

That's right, the advance CD listening party is the day after the disk comes out. That's so, um, retro?

Comments

hey,
i was searching the internet high and low, looking for the venue "AliveOne". i want to go to the listening party. i love the mars volta. i get updates from their fan-site, and the most recent said that the Fraces the Mute listening party was on Feb. 28 at "A Live One". The Onion must have had miscommunications. If you or anybody knows the venue "AliveOne" or "A Live One" can you please tell me the address? thanks.
