A Thousand Cuts

NP: John Cage, 4'33"

So, the afternoon and evening sorta devolved into a parade of minor inconveniences, and there's nothing quite like the dull anger that can bring on.

The latest, in sort of a karmic retribution for getting the CD collection pages fixed, is that I managed to lose all the album covers I had downloaded through Music Collector. They were in the Program Files folder and not my Documents folder, and I seem to have long since nuked my backup of the pre-reformatting Program Files.

This followed the fruitless (and frustrating for reasons I won't get into here) quest for the missing metronome at the rehearsal space, and yet another failed attempt for a soap dispenser that will fit in the cupholder in the bathroom.

The evening wasn't a total loss, though. I re-acquainted myself with "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" for Vaughan's, and may have another trick up my sleeve for tomorrow night inspired by a recent concert -- one that might even make it to the reviews page, perish the thought. I typically don't come up with acoustic "arrangements" of the songs I do as much as I just sorta play them straight, but that will change.

Comments

I still think that one of these years, I'd like to cover the Riverbottom Nightmare Band's song at the end of "Emmit Otter's Jugband Christmas." That'd be KILLER.
