Between The Lines

NP: Gomez, Split The Difference (Rhapsody)

Obviously, there's been a lot of talk about Paul Bremer this week, and some raised eyebrows at today's NYT op-ed piece. Looking closely at the piece, I think he may have tried to carefully carve out a position that actually jives with both the earlier comments in the week and the content of today's contribution.

Think about it. Not enough troops. Some early disagreement, but ultimately enough American troops. Enabling Iraqis to take care of their own security is paramount.

Bremer is trying to say, without explicitely saying it, that the disbanding of the Iraqi Army was the problem. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
