NP: The Police, Message in a Box (CD)
If you happened to be wondering just how long it would take for a macro to operate on a single line of text over 800,000 times, the answer is a long, long time. I'm sorta scared to do anything else processor intensive in the meantime, as my overall level of trust in Microsoft operating systems isn't exactly at an all-time high right now.
Speaking of which, I thought I had the home PC problem at least partially solved, as the slow boot disappeared for a little while. Not that I actually did anything to precipitate that. I unplugged the Handspring cradle, which seemed to eliminate the "serious error" messages. I think. Haven't been babysitting it much lately, so it's hard to be sure. The wireless tends to get knocked down and can't get back up again without a reboot, which is a tad annoying.
I was going to make a "modest bounce" joke about this, but Modest Bounce sold out and signed to a major label, so they're not worth my time anymore. And they didn't use the phrase "modest bounce" in the graphic. Or is the poll good news for people who love bad news?
What I'm trying to figure out is, if my computer is actually doing a lot of work, can I go home and still say I'm being productive?
