Hurry Up and Wait

NP: Seal (CD)

Okay, you know when somebody quits a band, and they say it's for "artistic differences?" That will usually include the stunning inability to do one's job in the band, only they never say it. This has got to be the same thing.

I still want to take a pic of Tenet when he was going on and on about people's hair being on fire, and put it next to one of Heat Miser from The Year Without a Santa Claus. The resemblence seems uncanny in my head, I just haven't gotten around to proving it.

Yesterday, I had exactly 45 minutes of free time, and decided to cook dinner instead of once again wolfing something down in the car on my way to a rehearsal. Of course, that does help combat the stale cigarette smell that permeates all my gear. Anyway, probably one of my more successful sausage and peppers efforts. Gotta keep turning the sausage, which I swear, is NOT a euphemism for anything.

The big drag this week is that I've been running myself ragged and even showing up late for things that have subsequently not started anywhere near when they were supposed to, or even when I got there. Last night wasn't bad, though, as we were mostly ready to go by the time I had the drums set up. But I busted my ass to get that Fire column done this week, only to find out that the new rotation has me up next week. Just for that, I should reveal a fun fact about some guys on the team, but it's (a) not my place, and (b) something anyone with a shred of online savvy will have done already anyway.

Looks like eight gigs with six-and-a-half different bands between now and the end of the month. June is going to be rough, but rough in an overscheduled, living every available waking moment of my life sort of way, so if I complain, don't pay it much mind. Somewhere in there, I'm also playing soccer twice a week, volleyball once a week, going to a couple of Fire games, and flying to New Jersey for my mom's retirement dinner.

And for the time being, you can post comments, but they won't show up on the page until I fix the entry templates.

Sausage and peppers making tips, from Hank's kitchen:

1. parboil the sauges first in water for about three minutes.
2. Use a bit of oil in the pan when you fry the sausages, even though that sounds like overkill.
3. Keep turning them. But you've discovered this one on your own.
4. Hollow out the hard roll so you can stuff even more sausage and pepper mixture into them, assuming you eat your S&P in that manner.
5. There was a #5, but I forget now.

Keep on turning that sausage, man (wink-wink, nudge-nudge).
