I don't know if it's the humidity, biorhythms or what, but I haven't felt this out of it in quite a while. Then again, I have a history of getting like this during the brunt of summer, to the point where the heat-induced lethargy was mistaken for lack of interest in a relationship that ended shortly thereafter. On the one hand, I could fight back and try to rev up my energy levels. On the other, I could honor my obligations and just melt into the sofa the rest of the time. The fact that my list of obligations as an underutilized member of the workforce is rather short, option #2 is looking pretty good.
Of course, that short list of obligations is pretty compelling, with a Saturday night show at Double Door with Lindsie followed immediately by my radio play-by-play debut for the Chicago Fire the next day. I'm justifiably nervous about the latter, as it could be the beginning of a whole new path if it works out. I need to dry-run a couple more games today and tomorrow before flying to Boston first thing Sunday morning.
