[drumming diary] The Lure Of The Large Kit

Okay, so I've finally come across a 14" green Signia tom on eBay -- and if any bids show up for it after posting this, I'm going to hate myself (hence no link). On the one hand, this allows me to make my kit even smaller, by replacing my 16" floor tom with the 14" tom.

On the other hand, I still have a 13" tom in my closet, so if I can find the one piece of hardware I need, I can set up a full 7-piece kit, with the 10", 12" and 13" across the top, and then the 14" and 16" down on my right. And to be honest, the footprint of the kit wouldn't really grow by that much, by virtue of the way it's currently set up. I'd just have to bump the stand holding the current two rack toms to the left a bit, reposition the ride cymbal to make room for the new rack, and slide the floor tom further back to accommodate the second drum to my right.

It's not like I'd start bringing this out to Cullen's gigs, but it's tempting none the less.

In other news, I have to return and then re-buy the 20" crash I picked up last week, because no one at Guitar Center had a clue about the details of the Sabian rebate, which required a purchase after January 1st.

Green? Looks more like teal to me. ;-)

Har har. I'm banking on most people not taking that as a challenge, to the extent that I have an audience of more than, say, five.

I don't think Premier offered a finish that was nominally blue on those drums, so I'm hoping it's actually the same finish that I have already.
